What Exactly Does Fractura Do?

Fractura is a tool for converting your favorite photos into a powerful art form: the photofracture. 

It divides an original image into many small cells, then manipulates them into a new design that you control. The program gives you many choices for expressing your creative ideas in imaginative and unique digital art. 

This is best explained by the example below. Fractura has done several things to the original image:

  Divided the image into 20 cells in a 4-by-5 array

  Laid the cells over a black background

  Added a "gutter" between cells to separate them

  Added an "overlap" so that the strip of image along each cell edge is repeated in the adjacent cell. See how the eyes are repeated!

  Added a thin gray frame around each cell 

  Applied random horizontal and vertical shifts to each cell, to create a "scattering" effect

  Deleted 3 of the 4 corner cells

  Added 3 borders around the art, with different widths and colors.

With Fractura you have complete control over all of these effects.
